Hi, 

Some may not get the meaning behind the picture above. Actually it was made as a reference to this concept of finding 'the one' in HIMYM - if I'm not mistaken, it was in S08E01. 

Making references to movies is the essence of modern-day pop culture be it jokes, puns, life philosophy and everything under the sun and the 'supplier' of these so-called references (one of them, that is) would be tv shows such as sitcoms; as this entry is referring to himym. 

To dwell on that topic would require a post of its own...and yeah, let's just put it on hold dulu ye? 

A gist of the show: Himym follows the journey of Ted Mosby, trying to find his true love aka 'the one' with his bizarre group of friends. Along the way, they went through a lot of adventures which is self-explanatory as to why the show lasted for 9 seasons....yada yada yada xD 

Both of the German words above (yes they're German) refers to the two possibilities that you'll encounter when you've found or thought that you've found 'The One' aka your soul mate. 

Beinaheleidenschaftsgegenstand [the french blue horn] : Well, that was a mouthful! Ok, this one refers to the one that we feel like, "woahh I think she's the one, lah!" But actually she's not. It is, as depicted in the picture as 'The thing that is almost the thing you want, but not quite'. It is a feeling based on instinct. You don't have to think about it...instead, you have to feel it in your heart. 

Lebenslangerschicksalsshatz [yellow umbrella] : (in reference to the instinct that you feel when you've found 'the one' yang truly the one lah kan. Hence, 'it') - "Is not sth that develops over time. It's sth that happens instantaneously. It courses through you like water of a river after a storm, filling you and emptying you all at once. You feel it throughout your body, in your hands, in your heart, in your stomach, in your skin". 

As for now, I believe that I've found my yellow umbrella 'cos my heart (omg bapak cheesy) told me so *winks* ;)

It is inexplicable as to why I have been bugged with 'writer's block' whenever I feel that I should've made the entry for this month a long time ago.

I don't know why, but I think that my brain is being a scumbag in this case. You see, all the great ideas for me to either write an entry or produce good punchlines - all of them would usually pop up at the most inconvenient and critical moments....

But when??  

Well, for starters...

The Scumbag Brain Story

-masa tengah STUDY I'll get distracted with myself 

Brain: "Eh, it'll be good if you do this and that...." and I'd be like...

 Me: "really, brain....really?? at times like these you want to distract me? heghhhh -_-" 

-lagi satu tak boleh blah...masa tengah-tengah EXAM! Bapak ah...

Brain: "wey, later when you're finish, you ought to do this and that..."

Me: "whatt??? I need you to focus on this paper la!" 

Then I'd naturally jot the ideas down in my little red book...with the intention of writing or doing it later. Memang later later la...kekadang tak buat langsung! 

 It's either that or I'd forgotten how I originally would've implement it. Scumbag brain, no? 

At the time of writing, I still have one more paper to kill/slaughter/murder/rampage on (underline the most suitable word hahaha) before embracing what we Sollaters could call a mere ~5 days semester break 'cos we'll be going for our internship period for the whole 2-month long semester break. 

"Eh, other people cuti already why are you guys going for internships? Dua kali pulak tu...Si boi rajin one?" - 'cos we're awesome liddattt uolsss :P 

No la! Actually it was a last-minute addition made to our B.A program when the school tried to get it approved by the MQA (Malaysian Qualification Agency). 

Horror betul intern 2x zzzzzzz.

And for this I applied for like, 7-10 places and yet satu pun tak sangkut - yes, times like these is hard..you know, slow moving economy; therefore even multinational companies are reducing their operational scale and carry out rationalisation moves aka buang pekerja and stuff...apatah lagi nak pikir pasal interns, kan?

Long story short, I got two places. First, being the NADI Centre in usm another one in Penang Institute. So I heard from the grapevine that NADI Centre tu pun kerja banyak and high pressure. As for the Penang Institute, originally I applied for the DAP internship programme (memang cari pasal). Went for the interview and I thought initially that I did not perform well during the interview..tengok2 dapat...they called me yesterday evening. So, Alhamdulillah la. Yeay! 

Then the tension sets in 'cos apparently I am to be a research assistant to a supervisor besides being 'designated to a project according to their (my) interests and academic background' then ada internal presentation lagi...n finally I have to publish one article - presumably will be published in Penang Monthly la kot - hoho cita-cita tinggi - , based on my research topic, at the end of the internship period. Here's the dirty details. 

Being the typical Adam, overthinking sets in. 

"Nanti research kan...ntah-ntah kena baca banyak...obviously, then mungkin kena collect data through interviews ke, questionnaire ke...then presentation lagi. publish article..alamak tak boleh main-main dah...penang institute ni dh la rajin buat event..mesti kena organize nanti....pastu balik lewat - 5.30pm (yg ni mengade) - jalan jem..." and a plethora of excuses that I won't put here :P 

Stop. 

I've always said that I want to step out of my comfort zone kan? Nah!  Skrg dah dapat n dah terima pun. 

Take up the challenge..and mulakan dengan Bismillah hor!

Nota kaki: 

1. Little red book -a book which happens to be red in colour. Its contents are not in any way should be or would be affiliated with Communism okay xD. Actually it's not that little la...standard size. got it free from Prudential. Hard-bound cover, good quality even after being chucked around for one sidang. heh heh. 

2. The title for this entry, the one in BM...direct translate yg xmmbawa maksud apa-apa pom. wahaha. anyway the title is an idiom. In short it means being in a dilemma - to choose between two undesirable situations. 

3. Initially, both are undesirable options. Heck, if it was up to me, rasa mcm 'screw internship! I wanna be a potato this summer holiday!! :3' .hahaha. Tapi mestilah selalu tgk yg +ve kan? Therefore buang pemikiran buruk tu hokay.
