DIY Project: Aftermarket Steering and Gear Console

Assalamualaikum, Greetings!

Here's another small DIY project that I've been doing for the past week.

Changed my steering, gear console and gear knob. It's an easy DIY as compared to the last one; soundproofing. Well, not as tedious. I wouldn't say it's that easy anyway. Time needed for all these to be done roughly would be 1-2 hours.

Those things needed to be changed anyway, since the 'leather' part of the steering gives off small dust - perhaps it decayed after all these time of parking under the baking hot sun. The gear console - changed because the fabric material decayed too - I know that bit could be changed but, it is like, alang-alang tukar, semua sekali lah tukar. hehehe. The gear knob...well, let's just say I just want to get some new look (and feel).

Here's the breakdown of the cost for each item:

13" Steering : RM65 (could've gotten it online for a cheaper price, but couldn't find the one that I like)
Gear knob   : RM45 (same reason as above. :P)
Gear console: RM68 (got it at lelong.com.my inclusive of delivery fee)

*don't forget the Allen Key - for you to screw and unscrew the steering. It's available at any hardware shops.
** changed my steering from 14" to a 13" one. felt like I'm driving a toy car. hahaha

If you're changing from stock steering to an aftermarket one, don't forget to get the boss kit. Mine's there already, so it's not included in the breakdown of costs. Also, if your stock steering got an airbag, it is best to search in youtube on how to diy it. You don't want it to be triggered whilst doing work. Could injure yourself if you don't take preventive action.

And while I was at that, I took out the gear lock which came with the car too. I just don't want it to get in the way of the new gear console.

I'm actually thinking of DIY-ing a short shifter next, but have to kiv it first since I'm having my final examination in January - and actually this week is the study week!

Here are the pictures. Enjoy :)

Getting out of my comfort zone

Assalamualaikum and Greetings! :)

It's November already and gosh...how fast time flies, it's almost the end of the year 2013 already!

This is the time of the semester when all of the tests have been done with, assignments submitted, with some of them remaining to be done with...I'd prefer to call this time of the semester as the 'resting' period...before we proceed to the big one - finals.

A lot has happened to me this semester. The good and the bad - I'd still say Alhamdulillah, for those things happened for a reason, and I choose to see only the good of each and every one of those things that had happened.

I feel that the theme for me this semester is 'getting out of my comfort zone'...Why??

Well, I started this semester by being a program director for the SFCF USM, which is my first time here. and yes, as the program director I had to deliver a speech in front of big fishes both from the university and the industry. Also, for this semester I took up ko-k..and guess what ko-k it is?? MODERN DANCE! Hahahahahaha.

I'd never thought that I will take modern dance as my ko-k...thanks to my friends who persuaded me to take up this ko-k. This is my first time dancing in public.  No, it's my second time. The first time was during first year, when I performed for German language class during Sollat's International Week. BUT, it is STILL my first time dancing for a ko-k and last Friday night, we performed during 'Malam Kokurikulum' at DTSP. Ehmahgerrrddd..my friends shouted my name, took pictures and videos..dah lah masa tu dalam second group yang menari tu aku sorang jeee...dok kat depan pulok tuuu..horror sangat!

And I also sang for the first time in public..masa dinner SFCF hari tu..lagu BPR - Harum Subur Di Hati. Yang tu pun kawan-kawan ambik video jugak. hohoho..segan aku.

All in all, it feels good to sometimes get out of your comfort zone. I know I felt it. It certainly boosted my self-esteem a bit. heheheh.... Lepas habis je malam ko-k tu, dah tau dah..nanti terasa rindu pulak nak pi ke concourse tu setiap Isnin dan Khamis petang untuk ko-k..no more la..huhuhu...

Well, as they said it, good things must come to an end. And this is my penultimate semester here in USM. I'm glad that I (and we) managed to make the most out of it; with all the memories and unforgettable things...hehehe. Thanks, guys :')

p/s: diorang suke sgt ckp aku menari nampak comel. wahahaha segan bak hangggg~

What happened in October: SFCFUSM!

Assalamualaikum, Greetings!

Entry kali ni nak cakap pasal Sector Focused Career Fair USM hari tu..event dah lama lepas, 5-6 Oktober..entry lambat partly due to 'kerajinan' yang melanda. Hehehe.

Rasa nak kena buat entry jugak, yela..sebab life kat universiti ni tinggal lagi satu sem je..at least I should leave a mark, takpun a dent pun ok jgk la kat sini. Hihi.

Syukur sbb diberikan peluang untuk jadi program director untuk SFCF USM ni...dan turnout hari tu weols merupakan yang tertinggi w/pun weols ni U yang ke-6 diorang buat SFCF! (Y). Angka rasmi 3000, tapi based on my observation and own estimation, rasanya boleh mencecah 3500+ visitors sbb ada yang tak daftar (sebab queue panjang).. hehehe.

Alhamdulillah, segala kerja keras yang dimulakan dari awal sem dapat hasil camni...and not to forget, I have such an awesome 35-strong team to be working with! This shows that a team's strength does not lie in its numbers. Rather, it lies in how well you manage your team and to what extent each and every one of your team gives their cooperation.

Inshaa Allah, pape perkara baik yang kita dapat, kita simpan..pape yang kurang tu, kita ambik iktibar dan jadikan panduan untuk event yang akan datang. Nantikan pulak Ekspen 2014 ye~ :3

Ada la sikit gambar kenangan. hehe
